Why I engineered Resuma — a fully accessible, ATS-optimized platform built so students, fresh graduates, and jobseekers can create resumes, cover letters, application letters, and portfolios without predatory paywalls.

Looking for a job is stressful enough on its own.
For students, fresh graduates, and career shifters, that stress is often made worse by tight budgets. When you are looking for your first opportunity, every peso matters. Yet almost every major resume builder on the internet pulls the exact same bait-and-switch.
They advertise their service as free, let you spend hours typing out your entire employment history, education, and skills, and then hit you with an aggressive monthly subscription the moment you click Download PDF.
I saw so many of my fellow students and peers get stuck behind that paywall. A clean resume or professional cover letter should never be an expensive luxury. It is the basic bridge between someone and their next livelihood. That frustration is why I built Resuma.

My goal with Resuma was simple: build a fast, modern, and completely free career toolkit for people who need it most.
Instead of forcing users to juggle three different websites, Resuma brings the entire application package together in one place.
It provides clean, ATS-optimized resume layouts that are readable by screening software and human recruiters alike. It includes paired cover letter templates, formal application letters formatted for corporate and academic standards, and shareable public portfolio links with live view tracking so you know when an employer opens your profile.
To make Resuma reliable and fast, I focused on client-side compilation and data ownership.
Built with Next.js and TypeScript, the platform uses a reactive editor with instant live document previews. The PDF generation engine renders clean, selectable vector PDFs directly in your browser. This means no waiting in server queues, no backend processing delays, and zero watermarks on your documents.
Privacy is also a top priority. Users keep full ownership of their information. Your data can be saved locally and exported as clean JSON anytime, without locking you into our platform.
In software engineering, it is easy to get caught up chasing the newest framework or building complex enterprise demos. But the most rewarding code is the kind that genuinely solves an everyday problem for real people.
If Resuma helps a student land their first internship, gives a breadwinner the confidence to apply for a better job, or saves someone from spending their remaining budget on a resume subscription, then every hour spent building it was worth it.
